Kendal & Dent London “Makers to the Admiralty” Vintage Pocket Watch
$ 450.00
This Kendal & Dent antique pocket watch has accumulated a beautiful patina on the case. It deep, dark patterning makes for a suburb contrast against the crisp white dial. With the flat crystal, it is truly a joy to hold in the hand. The perfect vintage everyday carry. If you’re wondering about the “Makers to the Admiralty” on the dial, this is because they produced ship chronometers for the Admirality at one point in the company’s history – Dent was even commissioned as a clockmaker to make the world’s most famous clock: Big Ben. It’s rare to find a K&D with Arabic markers, as most we’ve seen have Roman numerals. This piece gives you a classic American pocket watch look, from a London based retailer, with a Swiss made movement. If patina isn’t your cup of tea, you could always polish it back to a beautiful silver finish. As usual, we’re leaving the choice up to the new owner, although we’d recommend leaving it as is – patina doesn’t get much better than this.
Sound is big part of the enjoyment in owning a vintage pocket watch. When fully wound, the movement on this watch puts out a delightful ticking sound that can be heard throughout a quiet room. It would be perfect as a desk piece; something to fiddle with while on phone calls and an excellent conversation starter when clients are sitting across the table.
