The *Rolex Day-Date President* was originally introduced by Rolex in 1956. It was the first watch to display the entire day as well as the date. It is only available in precious metals: 18K gold (yellow, white or rose) and platinum. The Day-Date is also often referred to as the “President” because of the style of bracelet that is manufactured specifically for this model. Rocky Balboa, Tony Soprano, and Sonny Crockett (Miami Vice) are some of the characters in Hollywood who have sported the Day-Date on the silver screen.
Model number 118238 with a Swiss made automatic movement. Rolex caliber 3155 wrapped in a solid 18k gold case. Measuring 36mm in diameter (38mm including crown) with a thickness of 12mm. White dial with Roman markers featuring a day indicator at 12:00 and date at 3:00, hence the name Day-Date. The bezel is fluted 18k gold. The band is a heavy 18K solid gold President bracelet with solid links and heavy updated clasp (ref: 15/301). The lug width is 20mm and it would look great on an aftermarket strap. The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal has a cyclops lens over the date. The crown is a Twin-Lock screw-down crown making this timepiece water resistant up to 100m. The retail price at the time of this video review is $31,350 USD. As for the age, this watch is a Z series.
