Vintage Swiss Ankergang 800 Silver Pocket Watch
$ 300.00

Here is an example of a 15J Swiss Fabrique d’Horlogerie Fontainemelon (FHF) “Ankergang” (anchor escapement) pocket watch from the early 1900s (possibly late 1800s). This piece is unbranded, signed only as a “Spiral Breguet and 15 Stene”, along with a boxed 0.800 silver purity stamp (80% pure silver as per Swiss authorities), Swiss mountain cock/capercaillie/grouse (not a pheasant) and an empty (no letter inside) Star of David maker’s mark. The inner dust cover is signed with a matching serial number and CUIVRE, indicating that it is made from brass. The right facing “bird” hallmark is also found on the inside of the case rim and on the pendant.
Having some difficulty in finding information on the Star of David maker’s mark.
Detailed Specs:
- Style: Open face, pin set
- Approximate Age: Early 1900s
- Movement Serial: Unknown
- Case Serial: 508242
- Jewels: 15
- Case Material: Silver
- Case Diameter: About 51mm
- Total Weight: 87 grams / 3.1 ounces
- Dial: White with black Arabic markers and multi-color center 24 hour scale
Condition: Very good overall, running condition. Winds, sets, and runs. All dust covers snap closed for a smooth case. The setting pin has a nice reflex and doesn’t stick. The dial is very good and still maintains beautiful colors. The crystal is very good. There is a nice patina on the case. This piece has not been polished or serviced by KTT. As for the sound, it has a soothing tick to it, nothing too obnoxious, but just enough to be heard and enjoyed.
