The problem with worldtimers is that sometimes they have extremely busy dials and not the best for legibility (case in point). Some watch collectors like a busy dial, others like to be able to catch the time at a glimpse. The Porsche Design Worldtimer is one of the cleanest world time watches out there. If you keep the time in multiple locations, the intelligent GMT function makes this possible and gives the readout in a pair of minimalist windows at 3:00 and 9:00. If you’re a time zone hopping wanderluster, the crown at 2:00 features an integrated button which allows for adjusting your location/time zone on the fly… literally. Don’t know all of the abbreviations? No worries and no Googling necessary! That’s what the engraving on the caseback is for.

Award Winning Design

This Porsche Design model was a previous winner of the iF Product Design Award as well as the Red Dot Design Award. Also, interesting to note, the Worldtimer P’6750 was announced and produced white Eterna was still the manufacturing partner for Porsche Design. The relationship ended in 2014. Previous to that, IWC was making watch for PD. A tiny piece of horological history here.

From the Reviews:

“The P’6750 timepiece has a distinguishing timeless and puristic design. The watch wins many admirers with its innovative technology – it shows the time in two different time zones simultaneously. The watch producer Eterna – since 1998 licensee partner of Porsche Design – has designed and built a special movement module in its manufacture based on the ETA “Valgranges calibre A 07 111” for the timepiece. The module extends this movement by the addition of an intelligent world time function. The three hands in the centre of the watch display the time in the time zone in which the wearer currently finds himself. By means of discs rotating behind the dial, the movement additionally displays, via two dial apertures, a reference location and the actual time in the corresponding time zone. When the wearer wishes to change the time zone, the reference time is transferred to the hands in the centre of the watch simply by pressing a button.” –Europa Star
