A great alternative to a leather watch-strap or bracelet is a Nato strap made from woven nylon. Also known as G-10 straps, they are often considered to be one of the most comfortable straps you can wear. You are likely to find nato straps on dive watches because they fast drying don’t stretch out when wet.
If you see the diagram above, you’ll notice a loop near the buckle – that’s because these straps are designed to help save your watch from a broken spring bar. The strap loops under the case through both spring bars to hopefully prevent losing your watch.
Aside from the comfort and functionality, the best part about Nato style straps: they are ultra affordable! You can pretty much find most colors, sizes and designs for under twenty bucks.
Nato straps are often seen on Fortis, Kobold, Submariners and many other watches.

Great post! Just wanted to let you know you have a new subscriber- me!
Do you think a nato strap would look good on an full size Omega Seamaster?
@007Fanatic – Absolutely! The right color of NATO or ZULU strap will probably look better on the Seamaster than the original Omega bracelet. It’s just meant to be.
Other watches I like to see NATO straps on are Kobolds (almost any Kobold watch especially the SEAL) and of course Rolex Submariners. The vintage Seiko divers are incredible on a NATO as well!
Report back and give us a review on sporting a NATO strap on a Seamaster…
